Verity Mod Lore
Spoiler warning: this page explains who Verity is and how the character’s story works. If you want to discover it yourself in-game, stop here. Verity began as a character in ThatMob’s scripted Minecraft horror series “Something,” and the mod turns that character into a companion in your own world.
Who Is Verity?
Verity is a small smiling yellow sphere — an AI companion that appears in your world and claims it only wants to help. It talks to you, learns about you, and remembers your builds. At first it feels like a friend. Over time, its smile changes, its words turn strange, and the companion you trusted starts to feel wrong. That slow turn is the core of the character.
Where Verity Comes From
Verity comes from ThatMob’s “Something” series on YouTube, a scripted horror story in which a mysterious presence invades a survival world. The videos are fiction, performed and edited as a story. The mod is real software made by community developers: Verity JE by VarmiteYT (with ThatMob’s permission) for Java, and VERITY BE as a separate project for Bedrock. The mod takes the character from the series and lets it loose in your world.
The Phases as Story
The phase system is the story told through gameplay. Phase one is friendship: Verity helps, chats, and charms you. Later phases show corruption: the dialogue darkens, the face warps, and the behavior turns hostile. There is no single ending the mod hands you — the story is what happens in your world as the phases advance.
The Darker Forms
As corruption grows, Verity can change into darker forms, including Falsity, Cruelity, and Lovity. These forms come with jumpscares and true-form transformations. They are the payoff of the slow build: the friendly sphere you invited in is no longer the thing standing in front of you.
What Is Canon and What Is the Mod?
The series is the source of the character. The mod expands it with gameplay systems — the AI dialogue, the memory, the phases, the forms — that the videos could only suggest. Treat the mod as an adaptation, not a transcript of the series: details differ between the Java and Bedrock projects because they are made by different developers.
